A BABY ring-tailed lemur is the latest arrival at Bristol Zoo.

The young primate, pictured right with her mum, is just eight weeks old and lives on ring-tailed lemur island with her family - parents Roxy and Snout, siblings Warbie and Spike, and her grandmother Ringlett.

The new arrival has not been named yet, so Bristol Zoo has launched a competition to find a name for her.

The winner will have the chance to visit the zoo, meet the lemur keeper and receive a year's adoption of a ring-tailed lemur.

Mel Gage, assistant curator of mammals, said: "Our ring-tailed lemurs are a very happy family and they all help look after the new arrival. She is getting more adventurous and starting to explore the trees around the island by herself – but she doesn't stray too far from mum just yet."

She added: "Ring-tailed lemurs are among our most popular ani- mals. Their conservation status is classified as a 'vulnerable' so their births are important."

To enter your suggestion for the name of the baby lemur, mark your entry "lemur competition" and post it to: Marketing, Bristol Zoo Gardens, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 3HA, or email: marketing@bristol zoo.org.uk. The closing date for entries is Friday, June 5.
