Super-sub Ollie fires Rockleaze to the top
The visitors dominated large spells of the first half with lively forwards Jordan Lindo and Ricky Wilson linking superbly, and Tom Ashford, Jonny Bradbeer, George Harris and Chris McGill making intelligent passes and runs from midfield.
Rockleaze missed several glorious chances but led 1-0 at the break. The breakthrough came when centre-back Dave Beardon won the ball in midfield and fed man-of-the match Wilson, whose exquisite chip found the marauding Harris in space to fire home.
With Shire always looking dangerous with their direct approach, the second half was a much more even affair. A mix-up in the Rockleaze defence led to George Williams equalising for the home side midway through the period.
Chances were spurned at both ends after that with Rockleaze full-back Pete Summers making a great last-ditch tackle to prevent a certain goal, and Wilson Lindo, Rush and Bradbeer all going close to scoring for the visitors before Rush's belated intervention swung it Rangers' way.
Ciaran Furzeland capped a tenacious defensive display with a deserved goal and Adam Cockburn was outstanding in defence as Avon Athletic Colts Under-14s overcame Ashton Boys 5-1.
It was Avon's first win of the Division I campaign and they got there thanks to Furzeland's stunning strike, plus goalsfrom Alex Miners, Hugo Burton, Connor Matthews and Rory Langdon.
Dan Davison and Lewis Thompson- Quance made valuable contributions with their industry, while Ashton scored their solitary goal with a fine long-range effort.
Yate Rangers A clinched their first victory of the Under-14 Division II season with a hard-fought 2-1 win over a spirited Ashton Boys B team.
They opened the scoring, centre-forward Toby Strauss seizing on a through- ball and striking it into the top corner of the net, but Ashton replied before half-time through Sam Stokes when the Yate defence failed to deal with a long ball.
Yate started the second half brightly and snatched all three points when centre-half Darius Kiedowski struck a fantastic shot from outside the box into the top corner of the Ashton net.
Left-back Ben Greenaway also hit the bar with a cracking attempt.
Keeper Ryan Carter and defenders Kurtis Luke, Luke Kingston, Kiedowski and Greenaway Strong all performed well, while forward Andrew Jenkins turned in a man-of-the-match display.
Shire Colts started well in their Division IV encounter with Ingleside, Jotham Bowyer firing them in front in the first minute.
Ingleside were quick on the break, however, scoring three times before the interval to lead 3-1 and once more in the second half, despite a brave effort from defender Jake Hickery to keep the ball out.
George West scored a late consolation for Shire but Ingleside held on for a 4-2 success.
Stoke Lane fought back from a two-goal deficit in their Under-13 Division I home clash with Bristol Brazilians before conceding a late winner.
The visitors stormed into a 2-0 lead but Lane responded with two goals from Jack Bryan and looked the likelier winners until a last-minute strike stole the points for a skilful Brazilians side.
Jack Sayers worked tirelessly for Lane and was voted their man of the match.
Keynsham Town B came from behind twice before defeating Broadwalk 5-2 in Division III.
The visitors took an early lead through Jack Oaten but Joshua Cottrell fired home an equaliser for Keynsham following good build-up play by George Ollis. Broadwalk regained the lead with a speculative long-range effort from Ryan Radford, only for Keynsham to pull level once more just before half-time with a well-taken finish from Cian O'Mahony.
The second half began with Keynsham piling on the pressure and Liam Crew's volley gave them the lead for the first time before a well-taken Joshua Cottrell free-kick made it 4-2. Cottrell completed his hat-trick by volleying home from an O'Mahony corner.
Hanham Athletic Youth recovered from two goals down to preserve their winning start to the Division V season with a 3-2 victory at Fry Club Wanderers.
The hosts led at the break thanks to an excellent first-half brace by Harry Poole, but Hanham fought back to edge the match with a second-half hat-trick from Joshua Knight.
