Rockleaze tournament ready to roll

Friday, June 12, 2009, 10:00

Ten hours of non-stop action is about to kick-off in Bristol's biggest junior football tournament.

Rockleaze Rangers FC have attracted a capacity 94 teams to their Coombe Dingle Sports Complex for their sixth annual event this Sunday.

"It's a great event, a firm favourite in the Bristol youth football calendar," said co-organiser Scott Fisher. "We've had a tremendous response from teams wanting to play – even from as far as Esher in Surrey.

"We had to turn some away because there's just no space. We're playing all day as it is."

The tournament, sponsored by Ocean Estate Agents and Rocotillos restaurant, features age categories from under-7s to under-15s. Matches start at 8.40am and continue until 6.30pm. The six and seven-a-side matches will last six minutes each half.

Scott added: "We had great support from the public last time and sold about 1,000 programmes. Hopefully we'll experience similar numbers this year.

"It's a real family day out and there's a lot more than the football, with stalls and sideshows and full catering provided."

The £3 programme includes the price of parking. For more details contact Scott on 01179 075214; 07794 536992 or email scott@rockleazerangers.org.uk.
