Brislington's Liam caps big win with wonder goal

Wednesday, November 04, 2009, 07:00

Liam Moore's wonder-strike capped a great day for Brislington  as they overcame Keynsham Town with a 7-1 Division A victory.

Oscar Derrick, Rob Dibble, Patrick Walsh, Ciaran Dunford, Jimmy Sellick and Henry Hellings were the other Town marksmen.

Two quickfire goals from Kai Elliot in the first game, and a Harvey Morgan consolation in the second, were not enough for Henbury Colts as they tumbled to a 5-3 aggregate home defeat against Warmley Rangers in the same division.

Warmley fought back from a two-goal deficit to draw the first game 2-2, Tom Withers volleying home a looping ball into the box from ace defender Mitchell Raymond and Jake Lacey heading home star man Tom Withers' pinpoint corner. Charlie Shail was in sparkling form for Warmley, skillfully dictating play in midfield.

The second game saw Warmley take a 3-0 first-half lead thanks to the powerful Jayden Rands, skilful winger Tyrell Squire and an own goal, which was made by striker Harry Farrell.

Warmley looked solid at the back, with star man Solomon Templar excellent alongside the reliable Daniel Turner.

They continued to dominate in the second half but found the opposition Henbury keeper in fine form.

Henbury managed to squeeze back another goal through Morgan to make for a tense conclusion but Warmley held on to win 3-1.

Nicholas Wanderers and Thornbury Falcons drew 3-3 in two entertaining Division B matches.

Falcons boys went straight on the attack in the first game and only some terrific saves from the Wanderers keeper kept them out.

Prince was dominant at the back and Manley and Rogers fought hard on the wings for Falcons, as second-half goals from Stewart and Moseley, with a real cracker, sealed a 2-0 victory.

The second match swung from end to end. King and Brown performed heroics in the Thornbury defence and both Rodgriguez and Alexander gave battling performances.

Wanless scored his first goal of the season but it was Wanderers who ran out 3-1 winners to earn a share of the honours.

Stoke Lane continued their impressive run of form with a 4-0 win against St Vallier in Division C. Two goals from Theo Cox and a Thomas Harmer strike clinched a 3-0 first-game victory.

Saints battled hard in the second game but went down 1-0 to a Sammy Jo strike.

Improving AEK Boco B produced another battling performance to push hosts Ashton Boys all the way in a see-saw encounter.

Goals from Mason Williams (2) and Jamie Brimblecombe gave Boco a 3-2 lead in game one before a flurry of late goals saw Ashton claim a 7-3 win.

In the second game, Elliot Fletcher, Harry Hamblin and Alastair Matthews were outstanding for Boco, while Joe Bailey scored his first goal for the team before two crisp finishes saw Ashton home to a 9-4 aggregate success.
