Henbury topple pacesetters Bristol Central

Wednesday, November 04, 2009, 07:00

Henbury Colts turned on the style to beat previously unbeaten Under-12 Division IV leaders Bristol Central 2-1.

Colts took the lead in the first half thanks to Joe Steedman's fifth goal of the season, but Central drew level before half-time through Lewis Wedlocke.

Shortly after the break, Henbury regained the lead when Kieran Lovell slipped another great ball through for Steedman to finish.

Central piled on the pressure for the rest of the contest but Henbury, with Benjamin Davies their star man in midfield, ran out deserved winners.

AEK Boco produced some great football against St Vallier to run out 11-0 victors in Division I.

First-half efforts from Jack Robson (2), Josh Kellet-Butt (2), Will Brant, Tom Norly and an own goal saw Boco go in 7-0 up at the break, and further strikes in the second period from Tom Winstone, Norly, Robson and Kellet-Butt completed an emphatic win.

Keaton Lacey, Ben Stephenson, Luke Withey, and Billy Hack all played their part to ensure another clean sheet.

Division A leaders Bristol City JSC extended their winning start to the season to six games with a 6-0 victory over Bristol Rovers JSC.

City took advantage of the wind at their backs to put their opponents under constant first- half pressure, but a great display by the Rovers keeper limited them to just one goal, scored by Elliott Ripley.

Rovers' hopes of getting back into the game suffered a blow when George Kellow made it 2-0 early in the second half and further goals followed from Sam Glasson, Corey Hawkins, Gregor Bates and Harvey Burford.
