Emily on target as Portishead battle out a draw with Boco
Player-of-the-match Emily Smith opened the scoring for Portishead with a great finish following a fine passing move with Chelsea Hill.
Portishead worked hard throughout, with strong performances from Sophie Dumine, Izzy Batchelor and Kyla Probert in midfield, and defenders Rosie Collings, Phoebe Williams, Alys Withers, Eloise Hubbard and keeper Aimee Morgan.
Frampton Rangers Under-11s A team drew 0-0 with their B team counterparts in a very competitive match.
Lauren Penny was outstanding in a new midfield role for the A-team. Goalkeeper Hariye Beydilli also had a fine game, including a brave save at the feet of an on-rushing forward late in the first half.
Rosie Williams, Paige Botta, Maddison Buss, Ellie Todd, Chloe Fuller, Chloe Bragg and Annie Lewis all worked hard but could not find a winning goal.
Bristol Ladies Union A Under-11s lost for the first time this season when they went down 2-1 against a strong St Nicholas team.
Playing with the wind in their favour in the first half, Union created a number of chances, but shots from Lizzie Burton, Rosanna Boxall and Eloise Quinlan were all narrowly off target.
Saints scored following a breakaway move and then increased their lead in the second half with a deflected shot.
Union kept going and Anna Hubble pulled a goal back following a good move.
But despite some pressure in the final minutes, in which Briony Wills and Adie Bailey looked threatening, Union could not find another way through a well-organised and powerful Saints defence.
A late Longwell Green goal was tough on Ashton Girls Under-11s, who had fought back spiritedly from a two-goal deficit to level.
Vicky Brown, who captained a well-organised team in the wind and rain, and Courtney Osbourne, had hauled visiting Ashton level after Longwell had surged into a 2-0 lead, before their opponents pipped them with that belated strike.
Brislington A Under-12s came out on top of a closely-fought contest with hosts Bitton by clinching it 1-0. Both teams played plenty of attractive football, but it was Brislington who secured victory after a perfect raking pass from Emma Sims picked out the impressive Mia Williams and she found the corner of the net with a powerful low drive. The home team's keeper made saves from Chloe Smith and Sophie Allen to keep the game alive until the end.
A double hat-trick from Annabelle Colston set Portishead Juniors A Under-13s on their way to an 8-1 victory over plucky Thornbury Falcons.
Portishead scored with their first meaningful attack when the industrious Maisie Kincaid cut past two defenders from the right side to fire a low shot into the net.
Colston then opened her account shortly afterwards with a rasping right-foot effort.
Thornbury pulled a goal back but this served only to spur on the home side and, in particular, Colston, who completed her hat-trick before half-time to give Portishead a 4-1 lead.
Thornbury started the second half well but Juniors' back-line of Cade Dunn, Abbie Taylor, Lucy Rance and captain Ellie Grey ensured solid protection to home keeper Alice Pritchard.
And they extended their lead after some fine inter-play between Colston and strike partner Taylor Gainey allowed the latter to net with a shot.
Portishead had further opportunities to increase their lead through efforts from Jennie Mistry, Grace Arnall, Charlotte Joyner and Leanne Gainey, but it was Colston who capped a player-of-the-match performance with a second-half triple to take her season's haul to 16.
In a fixture that saw both sides having to battle difficult weather conditions, AEK Boco Under-13s emerged on top of the tussle for second spot with a 2-1 victory over Mangotsfield.
Good skills from Alicia Ellery created space for Georgia Young to shoot from the edge of the box and Abi Britt deflected the ball past the keeper and into the net for AEK's opening goal.
Mangotsfield hit back quickly from a corner when Lauren Sage turned the ball in to level the scores.
Boco continued to attack after the break and the pressure paid off when Ellie Marshall was fouled.
From the free-kick, Lauren Ford held the ball up before laying it off for Britt to score her second goal with a left-foot finish.
Mangotsfield fought hard for an equaliser but Boco held out.
AEK Boco Under-14s had a goal from Georgia Vandrais to thank for earning them a 1-1 draw against St Nicholas.
