Charity football at Mangotsfield

Thursday, July 02, 2009, 07:00

CHARITIES in the region will again benefit from an increasingly popular annual football tournament organised by a local football manager.

Tim Britton, who recently switched from Mangotsfield United Reserves to take over DRG Stapleton, is gearing up for his 18th TM Ceramics tournament, held in conjunction with Downend FC.

The six-a-side all-day adults event, which kicks off at 11am, will be staged at Mangotsfield School on Saturday, July 25.

Fourteen local Saturday and Sunday teams will tussle for honours on the pitches, while supporters can enjoy bar and fast food facilities.

This year the tournament will be raising money for charities specialising in helping young people cope with epilepsy and autism problems.

Tim said: "The tournament has grown to become a major event in the area and it would be good to see people turn out in force to enjoy the football and everything else on offer."
