Visitors Ashton soaked up a lot of pressure to start and were indebted to their new goalkeeper Tom Jennings, who pulled off a fine penalty save.

A last-minute winner from Jack Povey gave Cutters Friday a 2-1 win at Olveston, who took an early lead when Luke Jones made contact with a cross with his knee and the ball flew into the top corner of the net.
Olveston could have scored two further goals that would have confirmed their early dominance, but Cutters gradually worked their way back with some neat passing and Povey was always a threat up frontm.
Cutters started the second half brightly and equalised with a spectacular shot from Povey.
Chances came and went at both ends but Cutters stole all the points when Povey was first to react to a mix-up in the Olveston defence to slot into an empty net.
Yate Rangers gained their first point of the season in a 5-5 thriller at Bishopston thanks to a Max Cooper hat-trick and further strikes from Alex Prior and substitute Darren Thornbury.
Bishopston's scorers were Vandad Shah (2), Joel Edwards, Max Roebuck-Sacks and William Jarvis.
Goals from Dan Hanson (2) and Dan Turner were just enough to see Mangotsfield to a 3-2 victory at Yate United – but they almost squandered a 3-0 lead.
Shortly after the third Mangotsfield goal, Yate were given a lifeline when they were awarded a questionable penalty from which they scored.
Yate believed that they should have had a second spot-kick when one of their players appeared to be been fouled but the referee waved aside their appeals. In the dying minutes, Yate did score again but they were left with little time to force an equaliser as Mangotsfield held on.
