Matharu and Pine give Hambrook a taste of the Blues

Bowler Aaron Matharu and batsman Sam Pine starred for Frenchay Blue as they saw off Hambrook in Section C of the Under-13 league.

Pine compiled an unbeaten 71 with the bat to take Frenchay to 143-3 in their innings before Matharu took an astonishing four wickets in just 12 balls as Hambrook were skittled out for 23.

Hambrook also met with defeat against Downend, who raced to 138-5 in their turn at the crease to earn a 55-run victory after Hambrook could only manage 83-3 in reply.

Downend followed up that success the day after with a 70-run success over Bradley Stoke (76 ao) despite the best efforts of batsman Sam Wentland, who scored an unbeaten 45 at the crease.

In Section A, Almondsbury managed to defend a total of 83-3 by knocking over Thornbury Red for 72 to win by 11 runs.

Tom Williams was in sparkling form with the ball for Thornbury Blue in their clash with Frampton Cotterell in Section B.

Batsman Marcus Wormwell recorded an impressive 55 before retiring to lead Thornbury onto 158-3 and Williams then collected seven wickets at the cost of just 19 runs to help restrict Frampton Cotterell to 88-9 and post a 70-run success.

Frampton Cotterell were on the receiving end again in their next match after failing to chase the 86 set by Winterbourne B in their innings. They managed to record 72-7 to suffer a 14-run reverse.

O Sanders was in fine form for Chipping Sodbury A to help them to a 31-run success over Pucklechurch.

Defending 111 from their innings, Sanders took an impressive five wickets from 13 deliveries to help skittle Pucklechurch out for 80.

In Section D, Lansdown successfully defended a total of 140 to beat Frenchay Green (77-7) by 53 runs.

Meanwhile, Nailsea secured back-to-back victories in Section E. They reached 134-7 in their first match against Bristol YMCA (103-9) to win by 31 runs.

Then impressive efforts from Josh Dann (72no) with the bat and Liam Lester with the ball contributed to a 65-run success over Bishopston A.

Dann starred as Nailsea managed to rack up 126-3 before Lester claimed a hat-trick as he took four wickets in one over to help restrict Bishopston to 61-6.

Pak Bristolians (146-9) secured a victory over Whitchurch (106-7) courtesy of a faster run rate. Pak managed 7.30 per over to Whitchurch's 6.09 in Section F.

In Section G, Old Bristolians/Westbury (85-2) scored an eight-wicket win over Long Ashton A.

Long Ashton (143-6) suffered a second reverse just 24 hours later at the hands of Gordano Downs (162-3).

In the Under 17 League, Gloucester City Winget (148-9) enjoyed a 34-run success over Thornbury Red (114-7) in Section A.

A four-wicket haul from Tom Croucher was not enough to prevent Chipping Sodbury (111-7) from securing a three-wicket success over Frenchay (110ao) in Section B.

Frampton Cotterell (119-7) managed a 29-run success over Thornbury Blue (90-7).

In Section E, Bristol skittled out Portishead for 33 before surpassing that target for the loss of just one wicket.

An unbeaten 46 from George Ford helped Winterbourne A book their place in the final of the Urban Windows Under 15 Knockout Cup.

Coalpit Heath A had set a target of 97 from their time at the crease but Ford's contribution helped Winterbourne ease into the final with a five-wicket victory.

They will meet Knowle in the final after they managed to secure a two-wicket victory over Bishopston A.

Knowle (73-8) successfully chased down the target of 72 set by Bishopston.

In Section A of the Under 15 League, Old Down (102-2) secured an eight-wicket success over Rockhampton (98-5), while Chipping Sodbury B (111-5) secured a five-wicket victory when faced with Almondsbury (110-4).

Josh Stevenson scored an unbeaten 49 to help Pucklechurch reach 108-1 and successfully chase down the target of 106 set for them by Winterbourne B for the loss of just one wicket in Section B.

An unbeaten 62 from Murray Sheath was not enough to prevent Downend A (126-3) suffering a 21-run defeat at the hands of Thornbury (147-5).

Bowlers took centre-stage in the clash between Winterbourne B and Bristol Phoenix.

George Teuton posted impressive figures of 3-20 for Winterbourne as Bristol Phoenix finished on 136-6. Fi Morris then set about dismantling the Winterbourne order with 3-5 as Winterbourne could only manage 115-8 in reply.

In Section C, Downend B (56-1) saw off Bradley Stoke by nine wickets (53ao), while Harry Gowling top-scored with 58 to help Downend (145-2) to an eight-wicket success over Chipping Sodbury (142-5).

James Tavener smashed 95 for Winterbourne A (187-4) as they saw off Stapleton by 69 runs. Callum Sharp (71no) top scored for Stapleton.

Stoke Bishop secured back-to-back victories in Section D, first enjoying a six-wicket success over Shirehampton after successfully chasing down a target of 72.

Stoke Bishop (74-4) then enjoyed an eight-wicket victory over Bristol West Indians (86ao).

In Section E, Knowle's clash with Old Bristolians/Westbury was curtailed due to rain. Knowle won courtesy of a faster run rate after hitting 84 of 12 overs in reply to OB's 119-2.

Stoke Bishop will contest the final of the Dave McCarthy Under-11 Knockout Cup after seeing off Bristol West Indians by 36 runs.

Stoke Bishop reached 120-6 (Joe Stainer 26no; Aditya Shah 20) before skittling out their opponents for 84. They will meet either Winterbourne A or Thornbury in the final.

In Under-11 league action, Thornbury (114-4) beat Coalpit Heath (67-8) by 47 runs in Section A, while Almondsbury (86-0) and Winterbourne B shared the spoils after their match had to be abandoned due to rain.

Patchway (65-7) secured a narrow four-run victory over Rockhampton, while Coalpit Heath (137-5) beat Winterbourne B by 83 runs.

In Section B, Winterbourne enjoyed back-to-back victories.

They chased down a target of 92 for the loss of just one wicket (96-1) to see off Hambrook before restricting Downend to 54 and cruising to 56-1 to win by nine wickets.

Chipping Sodbury B (69-6) beat Frenchay (67-5) by four wickets.

Bitton (123-3) enjoyed a 10-run success over Whitchurch (113-5) in Section C.

Bitton, however, were on the receiving end with a 71-run reverse against Hanham two days later.

Hanham reached 135-3 and Bitton were only able to make 65 before being skittled out to end their chase.

Elsewhere in Section C, Stapleton (109-2) enjoyed a 41-run victory over Carsons/Mangotsfield (68ao).
