Children Irish dance classes head for Yate
Two sessions will be run by the O'Malley School of Irish Dancing in the Jackson (Creda) Social Club, Station Road, on Thursdays from July 2. Teacher Kate O'Malley set up her first classes in Emersons Green two years ago and has since expanded to Filton.
Yate will be her third venue, with youngsters aged from about five to seven welcome at a 6.30pm session and older children and teenagers taught at the 7.30pm class.
Members of the school often perform at local events, such as the St Patrick's Day Parade, and take part in competitions across the UK.
Kate said: "We've decided to start our new classes in Yate because there aren't any Irish dancing schools close by.
"A number of our students live in the area and we felt it would be beneficial to offer them classes closer to home. We are also hoping to welcome new dancers to our troupe.
"We have specific classes for beginners, those that suit the 12-18 age group and our performance troupe."
Anyone interested in joining the classes should email omalleyirishdance@hotmail.co.uk or phone Kate on 07934 444877.
