Revealed: The story of the farm that made way for Bradley Stoke
Martin Davis, 71, has written a book about the history of Little Stoke Farm, tracing its history from the 1300s to its disappearance.
He describes farming in the area up to the time of his father, Howard, who also had a key role in creating what became the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge.
Trust founder Sir Peter Scott's widow, Lady Philippa Scott, has written the foreword to the book, which has been called The Farmer and the Goose with the Golden Eyes.
Dr Davis will talk about the publication at an event in Winterbourne's medieval barn on Wednesday, November 11.
The talk will follow a brief annual meeting of the barn trust in the building in Church Lane at 7.30pm.
Admission is free but donations will be accepted towards work to restore the barn.
