Keeper Sawyer earns Weston a valuable point

Monday, October 26, 2009, 07:00

Maidenhead United 0 Weston-super-Mare 0: Keeper Kevin Sawyer was Weston's hero as he brought off a string of first class saves to earn them a precious Blue Square South point.

Four of the five previous meetings between the clubs at York Road had ended in goalless draws, but Maidenhead had scored 12 times in their three previous games, so this ranks as a good achievement by the Seagulls.

Late on, Sawyer came to the fore after Maidenhead made a double substitution and pushed three up front.

The goalkeeper made three good saves from former Queens Park Rangers striker Kieron St Aimie and did well to beat out a close-range Sam Collins effort.
