The annual Patchway Festival is under way and more than 30 events are planned for the second week.

The festival, now in its 16th year, started on Saturday with a parade and community fair, and will finish next weekend on Sunday with the festival quiz night.

This year, more than 60 events have filled the programme.

There have already been several events including special keep- fit classes, quizzes, line dancing and a charity cricket match.

Still to come are a litter-picking event on the Tumps in Coniston Road, a community sports afternoon, more fitness classes and martial arts classes.

On Saturday, July 25, there will also be an arts and crafts exhibition at Patchway Community Centre in Rodway Road from 2pm to 4.30pm and the Patchway Garden and Flower Show, at the same time and place.

Win Williams, 66, a retired special needs teacher, has been one of the festival's main organisers since it began in 1996. She said: "It has been great so far, and there is plenty more to come. The aim of the festival is, and has always been, to promote Patchway and its organisations and businesses. They can fundraise and promote themselves, all under the umbrella of the festival."
