Bristol City Reserves 4 Yeovil Town Reserves 0

Lee Trundle was carried off on a stretcher after suffering an ankle injury as Bristol City reserves swept to a comfortable totesport.com Combination victory over a young Yeovil Town side.

Goals from Ashley Kington, Stern John, Peter Styvar and Ross Stearn gave an experienced Robins side a comfortable win.

Stephen Henderson was forced to make a couple of smart early saves before City took control.

Scott Murray hit a post with an early chip, before Kington opened the scoring with a low shot, which went in via a post, after Styvar's clever cut-back.

Despite creating many chances, it was not until the 68th minute that City doubled their lead, John racing clear before coolly slotting past Yeovil goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar.

Stearn was given the opportunity to make it 3-0 when he was tripped in the penalty box by Harry Montacute – but he blazed his penalty over the bar.

However, City soon added a third goal when Slovakia forward Styvar capitalised after Wagenaar failed to claim a Kington corner, finishing easily at the back post.

There was still time for City to add a fourth, Stearn getting his name on the scoresheet when he kept his cool to beat Wagenaar in a one-on-one situation after being sent clear by John.

Bristol City Reserves: Henderson, Orr (Hennessy 61), McCombe (Sayce 61), Edwards, Ball, Murray, Kington, Stearn, Trundle (Lennox 43), Styvar, John.
