We're not safe yet – Swindon boss Wilson

Saturday, March 28, 2009, 07:00

Swindon Town boss Danny Wilson has warned his players that their survival bid is far from over ahead of this afternoon's vital relegation clash with West rivals Yeovil Town.

Wilson's side have registered three straight victories to ease their relegation fears and are five points clear of Yeovil, who are currently entrenched in the bottom four.

Swindon would strengthen their position in the eight-way battle to avoid the drop with another victory, but Wilson has warned his players that their current hot streak of form will count for little if they do not build on it at Huish Park this afternoon.

He said: "Two weeks ago people were saying we were in a difficult position. Now we have won a few games people are saying we will be fine. I can tell you we are far from it.

"Two defeats and we will be right back where we started. We won't take anything for granted and would be foolish to think that all our work is done and we can now put our feet up.

"We have to maintain that balance of emotions and not get carried away. It is easy for players to get carried away on the back of a few wins and lose focus, but we as a management team are determined not to let that happen."

Yeovil boss Terry Skiverton will be hoping to record his first victory at the helm after a winless streak that has now been extended to eight games.

His side, however, produced an encouraging performance by holding promotion-chasing MK Dons at Huish Park last Saturday and Skiverton said: "Swindon will be buoyed by their recent form but we have put in some good performances at home recently.

"It is geared up for a really good game and it will be a case of going out there, being positive and taking the game to them.

"If we can keep a clean sheet against one of the highest scorers in the league we won't be far away."
