Hutchins hoping to earn long term deal at Yeovil Town

Monday, April 06, 2009, 07:00

On-loan Spurs defender Danny Hutchins helped Yeovil to a fourth-straight clean sheet and then declared his desire to sign permanently for the Glovers.

The right back has been told his Tottenham career will end this summer and he already wants to stay at Huish Park.

Hutchins ensured Terry Skiverton earned his first away point as Yeovil manager by clearing a header from Stockport's Josh Thompson off the line – the nearest either side got to a goal in a 0-0 draw at Edgeley Park.

Hutchins' loan has been extended to the end of the season and he wants to hang around for next term.

He said: "I would only go back to Tottenham and not play so staying here for the rest of the season I can get a few more games under my belt."

"If I do well and if Yeovil want to talk to me in the summer I would be very happy and hopefully maybe sign."

"I would like to stay. It is a nice, little club and I have settled down well here and I am playing well so why not? League One is a very good level to start my career again."

Yeovil are now four points above the relegation zone, largely thanks to Skiverton's work with the defence that has seen MK Dons, Swindon, Northampton and now Stockport fail to find a way past them.

"The gaffer has got a new way of working with the back four and it has paid off – four clean sheets in a row – what more can you ask for?" said Hutchins.

"He works particularly with the back four in training, just telling us the basics and it has worked well."

Next up for Yeovil are promotion-chasing Millwall on Good Friday (3pm) before bottom club Cheltenham Town on Easter Monday.

Skiverton will check on the fitness of midfielder David Noble, who missed Saturday's game after tweaking knee ligaments. Centre half Lee Peltier played on with a broken nose at Stockport but it is unlikely to stop him facing the Lions.
