Meehan: Bath Rugby must win last two matches
Bath slumped to a 19-3 loss to title contenders Harlequins on Saturday and dropped to fourth in the table. They must now regroup for their Heineken Cup quarter-final with Leicester on Saturday.
And Meehan says once that challenge is over they must beat Newcastle away and Saracens at home to make sure they have a chance of reaching the final on May 16.
Bath had played three games in eight days and Meehan admitted it was hard to look past tiredness for the reason his players performed poorly.
"We blew so many opportunities through poor decision-making," he said. "Why we made so many poor decisions in these circumstances we will have to work out.
"The first thing we look at is the schedule and after that we look at the players involved and the areas that let us down.
"We had three on twos, so many opportunities that normally we would just nail and we have to ask why we didn't do that.
"The easy option at the moment is to look at our programme and say that we were tired – it's easy to say but unfortunately for us we had opportunities and overlaps but did not take them.
"We have got to win the last two games, there is no doubt about that, and where we finish will depend on our results.
"I have asked the players and now it's going to be a test of character to see if we can come back. We have got to put aside what has happened and get back to playing the rugby that we want.
"We are going to have to work hard but the guys are not afraid of doing that. We will not go into our shells because of this result."
