Betsy could be on his way from Bristol City to Swindon

Tuesday, August 05, 2008, 08:00

KEVIN Betsy is on the verge of joining Swindon Town – if he can secure a financial pay-off to terminate his contract at Bristol City.

Town boss Malpas revealed last night that talks had taken place with Betsy last Wednesday and is now waiting to see whether the player can thrash out an agreement to cover his losses if he agrees to a reduced wage contract.

Betsy was a guest at the County Ground last night as Town played their final pre-season friendly with Plymouth.

And the Malpas is hoping an agreement can be reached between Betsy and City before the campaign kicks off on Saturday – with other clubs now believed to be interested.

Malpas said: “We are working away to get Betsy here and he is trying to sort something out with his club. I hope something will be decided on Tuesday or Wednesday.

“He is keen to come here but Bristol City have a big say in whether he gets what he is looking for (financially).”
