Show zero tolerance for parking in Bristol bus lanes
Motorists should not be allowed any grace period whatsoever but should be punished immediately without any warning or phasing-in. Bus lanes have existed for decades and are clearly marked. Any driver who parks in one, except during an emergency, is either arrogant or thick. Either way, such drivers are unworthy of a licence. They certainly do not deserve a tentative introductory period.
The same goes for idiots who block cycle lanes or enter cycle-only panels at traffic lights despite the unmissable white lines and giant bike logo. This illegal, dangerous practice continues day after weary day, year after weary year, in Gloucester Rd, Stokes Croft, Anchor Rd, Baldwin St etc, with no apparent punishment.
One taxi company in Gloucester Rd has, during the last few months, taken to constantly occupying a long stretch of both the cycle lane and the pavement with vehicles outside its premises, seemingly attracting zero police attention.
