A cautious approach from both sides saw defences dominate, although both Banbury and Chippenham will feel they had enough chances to have negated the need for tomorrow night's replay.

Chippenham started slowly, conceding a series of corners and free-kicks as Declan Benjamin and David Stone both failed with chances for the home side.

At the other end, Lewis Powell combined with Sam Allison to lay the ball into the path of Yan Klukowski, whose fierce drive flashed wide.

As Chippenham continued to dominate, Jon Davies' effort lacked the necessary power, while Scott Lye shot over when well-placed.

In a rare Banbury attack, Ben Milner wastefully headed a free-kick wide.

Six minutes later Davis played in Klukowski, whose goal-bound effort was blocked by a defender.

In the second half both sides went further into their shell and only managed one serious chance apiece.

Banbury had a corner cleared off the line by James Martin, who then had a header superbly saved.
