Hoteliers and guest house owners in Weston-super-Mare are being urged to help accommodate the huge influx of visitors due to flock to the resort for the annual T4 on the Beach extravaganza this summer.

About 40,000 people are expected to visit Weston-super-Mare over the weekend of July 17 to 19 for the annual five-hour beach concert, televised live on Channel 4.

T4 on the Beach is heading back to the resort's sands for the fourth year running and has already confirmed a number of acts including indie rock band, The Noisettes.

They will be joining The Saturdays, Dizzee Rascal, Alesha Dixon, Metro Station, Calvin Harris, N-Dubz and Tinchy Stryder, who have already been confirmed.

Pop princess Alesha will be debuting as a solo artist at the party having performed in garage girl band Misteeq at the first event back in 2003.

Dizzie also makes a long-awaited return, as does Calvin. They both performed to sell-out crowds in 2007.

The resort's tourist information centre has already been inundated with calls from people looking for accommodation for the weekend.

But rooms are filling up rapidly and TIC bosses have now put out an appeal for any hoteliers or guest house owners with space still left to contact them.

North Somerset Council executive member for tourism, Councillor Elfan Ap Rees, said: "With more than 40,000 people coming to Weston for T4, accommodation in the area is in high demand.

"If anyone has a hotel, bed and breakfast or holiday let with any space, then we are asking them to contact the TIC as soon as possible.

"T4 is a fantastic event that provides a valuable boost for our local economy and the lack of accommodation available shows how beneficial it is."

T4 says the complete line-up will be announced in the coming months, with more than 20 more acts likely to be added to the bill.

Acts performing last year included American stars Ne Yo and Kelly Rowland, plus Duffy, Scouting For Girls, The Ting Tings, The Pigeon Detectives and McFly.

There were also performances from Sugababes, Five 0' Clock Heroes with special guest appearance by Agyness Deyn, Dirty Pretty Things, The Automatic, One Eskimo, The Script, Black Kids, Lightspeed Champion and Envy and Other Sins.

Organisers cannot say at this stage whether any of these acts will be returning once again this year.

However, McFly have attended for four consecutive years, so it is likely they could make another return.

T4 presenters Steve Jones, Miquita Oliver and Rick Edwards will be hosting the party this year.

A host of celebrities are also expected to watch the acts and mingle back stage. Last year these included the stars of Hollyoaks, EastEnders and fashion guru Gok Wan.

The gig, which has now sold out, normally boosts the local economy to the tune of about £3million.
