Malcolm denies Rockleaze Avonside

In their first home game of the season Rockleaze Avonside were held to a 1-1 draw against Thornbury Town.

Thornbury took the lead in the 63rd minute, when Chris Parry broke down the left and squared the ball for Steve Alexander to slide home from close range.

The home side levelled on 83 minutes with some good play from Dean James, who fired a low shot past Malcolm from the edge of the box.

In the last minute of the game, Rob Malcolm made a brilliant diving save to deny Kia Simpson a winner.

Kings Stanley maintained their 100 per cent record with a 1-0 victory over Yate Town Reserves.

The winning goal came in the last minute, when Mike Beckingham made some space for himself on the edge of the box and beat the visitors' keeper with a low shot.

Patchway Town's winning streak came to an end with a 2-0 defeat at Brimscombe & Thrupp.

The home side took the lead after 25 minutes through Lee Pritchard. Jamie Martin netted the second to give the home side the points.

DRG Stapleton remain top of the table after a 3-0 victory over local rivals Chipping Sodbury Town.

The home side opened the scoring on 65 minutes, when Sam Thomas' cross was hammered into the corner of the net by Aaron Taynton.

Five minutes later they were 2-0 up when Tristan Ferguson made a great break down the right and fired the ball past Town's keeper Jon Kerley.

Thomas headed home the third from a cross from the right.

In the local derby between Henbury and Axa, the visitors took the honours with a 2-1 victory. Axa had an early chance when Noel O'Sullivan went close with a header after 25 minutes.

It was the visitors who took the lead with a tremendous shot from Andy Sledge mid-way through the half.

But Henbury levelled the score just before the break through Eddie Howells.

The winner came in the 87th minute for Axa when Scott Burnell netted.

Tuffley Rovers got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Bishop's Cleeve Reserves. The opening goal came from the penalty spot after seven minutes, Vic Webb converting from the spot.

The home side made it 2-0 through Mark Ward.

Taverners pick up their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw at Ellwood. They fell behind after five minutes when Byron Ranford headed home a far-post cross.

Taverners got a deserved point when they levelled the score through Jay Redbond.

The match between Berkeley Town and Kingswood finished goalless, a welcome point for struggling Berkeley.
