A host of British stars including Oscar winners Tilda Swinton, Sir Ben Kingsley and Jeremy Irons are set to attend the Toronto International Film Festival.

Keira Knightley, Tom Wilkinson, Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, and filmmaker Mike Leigh are also due to be at the glitzy event to premiere their new films.

Other homegrown stars expected to walk up the red carpet in the Canadian city include Ricky Gervais, Colin Firth, Kate Beckinsale, Jim Sturgess, Thandie Newton, Gerard Butler, Robert Carlyle and Ben Barnes.

They will be joining the likes of Hollywood A-listers George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Renee Zellweger, Benicio Del Toro, and Jennifer Aniston.

Twenty-five films from the UK will be showing at the Toronto International Film Festival, which opens on September 4. Charles Martin Smith's Scottish film Stone Of Destiny will close the festival on September 13.

"We're thrilled to have Stone of Destiny close this year's Festival," says Cameron Bailey, the festival's co-director.

"This is a movie that wills you over with its charm, its sense of mischief and its pure Scottishness."
