Speaking at the Toronto Film Festival, where the movie premiered, Alan Alda said: "It's the second time I'm working with Kate. I was on a movie before but we never got to work together.
"I had seen her in The Aviator, she was playing an American actress and I thought she was American. What surprised me was when I met her and she talked with this British accent. She's a wonderful actress."
Vera Farmiga added: "She's a dream to work with. We had a great time together."
Filmmaker Rod Lurie also had high praise for the British star, saying: "Kate gives a performance that is so outside of anything she's ever done. She brings a lot of value to us by absolutely stunning people - we all know she's a good actress, we all know that she could be a great actress, but in this film, I think she joins the elite of the Kates.
"She's one of the great Kates you know, along with Winslet and Blanchett, and now here with Kate Beckinsale. She's brilliant."
