Celebs donate drawings for auction

Friday, June 26, 2009, 11:07

Celebrities including singer Rod Stewart, Andrea Corr and Patsy Palmer have donated sketches to an online charity exhibition.

The stars were asked to contribute two drawings about a personal journey that shaped their life as part of a campaign to support Action For Children, which works with vulnerable youngsters in the UK.

Explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, boxer Amir Khan and tennis player Tim Henman also took party.

Khan said: "I'll never forget what a difference boxing has made to my life - I'm so passionate about the sport which is why I've opened my own club to help give youngsters the same opportunities I had as a lad. I hope it will provide kids in the area with a place to hang out, get fit and keep out of trouble. It feels great to give something back to the community."

Henman: "I started playing tennis at the age of three and loved it from the first time I picked up a racquet. My parents encouraged me to play and there is a great history of tennis in my family. I remember going to watch Wimbledon when I was a young boy and from that moment it was always my dream and ambition to play on Centre Court. My family have been a huge inspiration to me and their love and support has helped me get where I am today. Action For Children supports thousands of young people for as long it takes - just like my parents did for me."
