Biffy not fans of Pete

Biffy Clyro took time out before their performance at Reading Festival this weekend to have a pop at Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty, despite their best efforts not to.

After admitting he would be watching Queens Of The Stone Age and Rage Against The Machine because "they're great live bands" rather than Pete's group, bass guitarist James Johnston said: "I'm not going to start slagging the guy off - I don't even know him - but I'm just not crazy about his music."

But James was full of praise for Leeds and Reading festivals, which the band have played six times.

"(We come back for) it's line-up and its history - there is a great tradition in the festival. We always have a great time and that's what it's all about for us. It's a bit of a no-brainer really - if they ask us then we come back," he said.

He continued: "Festivals are nice because you're playing to people who haven't really heard the band before. It's a chance to make a connection with some people who are a bit different. I mean Dizzee Rascal is on here... there's more diversity in the type of bands."

Biffy Clyro's new single Mountains has just debuted at No 10 in the UK charts.
