COMPUTER users continually annoyed by their slow PCs got the chance to ease their suffering at a "frustration zone" set up by computer experts in Cabot Circus.

The one-stop-shop allowed people to take out their pent-up stress on punch bags and boxing machines.

Once their aggression was let out visitors were given the chance to work out their problems with the aid of some computer performance and stability tricks.

According to gadget expert Suzi Perry, who officially launched the Frustration Zone yesterday, slow, poor-performing PCs are making Brits increasingly frustrated.

New research released today shows the issue has become such a pain point that some Brits would much rather visit the dentist than face a snail-paced computer.

Over a third of those surveyed find a slow PC just as aggravating as an airline losing their luggage and as infuriating as finding fraudulent charges on a credit card. For almost one in three Brits, the frustration is on a par with losing a mobile phone.

Ms Perry said: "There's nothing more frustrating than a slow PC.

"We've all suffered from sluggish computers at one point or another – we've missed deadlines, lost work and been driven to despair by machines grinding to a painful halt.

"Although it can be frustrating, the key is to resist the urge to smash something as there are lots of simple and effective ways to get your tech back up to speed.

"If you can't resist the rage, the Frustration Zone is the perfect place to vent that pent up fury."

    “@Pyronaught

"As to your flight to Benidorm - we'd be a bit more than 'frustrated' if the plane suddenly stalled and had to be 're-booted' before if plummeted to the ground!"

Precisely that happened to a BA 747 when it flew through a volcanic dust cloud over Indonesia.

The thing about Virgin is that the "Customer advisor" in India (when you eventually get through to one who speaks something recognisable as English) tells you to switch on and off and reboot ad nauseam, when it's perfectly clear that the problem is network overloading (otherwise known as overselling an inadequate resource).”

“Whilst it certainly is frustrating - what's really amazing is that we all just accept that PC's, mobile phones, tablets etc. etc. do run slowly sometimes - or even 'crash' completely. If you contact IT support - you'll get the usual comments like switch it off and try it again - that usually fixes the problem - and often, it does. Can you imagine if we applied the same bizarre acceptance to things like cars and planes? If your car suddenly and inexplicable decided to travel at no more than 20 mph on your way down the M5 - you'd have something to say about it - and you certainly wouldn't be fobbed off with - turn the engine off and try it again - that usually works!!!!

Odd how we look at technology.”

“I notice that a Virgin Media hack has red-arrowed my post. I'd have thought they had better things to do - like sorting out their shambles of a network!”

“Does this also cater for Virginmedia customers continually annoyed by their slow broadband service?”

“What on earth is wrong with people these days that they get so angry and frustrated at everything?

Sounds like they need to pull themselves together a bit. Maybe go for a run and cheer up.”
