UNIONS say a pay and conditions deal for workers at supermarket Asda's Bristol depot is the first of its kind in the world involving the American-owned company.

The GMB said the deal, covering 10,000 of its members employed in transport and warehouse operations in 20 depots in England, Wales and Scotland, followed 14 months of negotiations to introduce collective bargaining.

Asda and the union both described the deal as a "ground-breaking agreement".
