Team invests time in sprucing up Bristol centre

Staff from investment firm Skandia have helped revamp Totterdown Children's Community Workshop (TCCW).

Armed with paintbrushes, garden shears, spades and plants, they took over the centre in Wells Road for three days and completed the revamp yesterday.

They completed a series of mini-projects such as tackling the garden area, computer room, TV room and indoor play room, making it a happier place for the children who use the workshop.

Established in 1979, TCCW offers a place for children of working parents to go during school holidays and after school. It offers a range of activities including craft classes, game days and regular trips out.

Through activities such as cake and book sales, the Skandia team raised enough money to buy materials to paint and decorate the rooms, and to replant the popular outdoor space. The project is part of a larger initiative called the Power to Change the Future Community Challenge, run by Skandia, a UK long-term savings group.

Dave Chessell, sales director at Skandia, said: "We're pleased we were able to help the Totterdown Children's Community Workshop.

"This project is one of several that the Skandia sales force are completing across the UK and it's fantastic to be able to use the Power to Change the Future project to complete a number of local, sustainable projects that will change futures and give something back to local communities."
