YOUNG writers were honoured for their efforts in a national competition.

Youngsters received certificates at a special presentation evening held at a Cabot Circus learning centre.

Explore Learning – which has branches throughout England – invited schools to take part in workshops ahead of its national young writer competition.

Children were taught about the importance of characters, setting and language and were then encouraged to use the theme of old and new to write stories for the competition.
