Do you think Bristol City should carry on with plans to build the Ashton Vale stadium?
We asked passers by on the streets of Bristol if they felt Bristol City should carry on with plans to build the stadium.
Here's what they said:
-

Dean Caswell, 46, Bedminster: They should be allowed. It's a space doing nothing at the moment. It would be a big boost for this side of the city.
-

Jo Cooksley, 32, Windmill Hill: I don't think they should. We need as many green areas as possible in the city. Plus, I don't support Bristol City, so I don't really care.
-

Peter Good, 20, Southville: No. It's a lovely piece of land to mess up. If they are going to take up that place where the football fields are, then no.
-

Adrian Lawrence, 47, Totterdown: I think they should. It's got to go somewhere and that is the most sensible place.

“i hope both clubs get the the green light and the new arena to make bristol a place to be proud off and on the map i love our city but i would rather spend money here rather than to see gigs in other citys.”

“Lets be honest it's only the posh numpties who are opposing progress in Bristol, they have been doing it for decades. What they want is some wine bars that play jazz with some weird dancing lessons thrown in. Oh and maybe some more disabled parking spaces for their brand new range rovers would be nice as well. Ideally they would like all of Bristol to resemble Clifton or Westbury on Trym, and only have public schools and plenty of tennis, hockey and croquet.
The idea of a modern, progressive, commercial city with a history to be proud of and a future to embrace is simply repellent to them. Why?...because they are selfish, cynical and ultimaltely so far up their own a*** they will never see any sense, this Century or the next.”

“This is quite extraordinary. I look at this site tonight and see a poll referring to Bristol City continuing their attempts for a new stadium. I have never seen this poll before, I had no intention of voting yet I get the message "you have already voted in this poll".
Does this make any sense at all? (apart from the obvious conspiracy theory which I usually abhor.)”

“In fairness everyone is an entitled to an opinion. People quoting that all of Bristol wants or needs it are deluded. Some people just don't care, some are thick as mud, some are Gas (like me) but not all of us are anti as we will face the same problem with UWE and understand the politics and nimbyism (is that a word.)
There are a lot more people who are against it than you think”

“The selfish lass from Windmill Hill will probably be first in the queue for the concerts at the new stadium that Bristol can't currently host. The young lad doesn't even understand the question does he?”

“The chap second from last, Peter Good, Does he know what part of town they're on about?
"That place where the football fields are"
Is he on about the Downs? Or Greville Smyth park?
I lived in Bedminster Down up until the age of 18 and have NEVER seen any sports markings on that land. I think you'd snap your ankle if you tried to do anything other than walk across it.”

“A 3rd tier club needs a smaller stadium , not a bigger one.”
