We were terrible, says Weymouth boss
Ebbsfleet 1 Weymouth 0: Alan Lewer slammed his Weymouth side after the Terras fell to defeat at Stonebridge Road.
"That was the worst performance of our season" said Lewer."I though we were second rate throughout and if we had got beaten 4-0 I wouldn't have had any complaints. They dominated the game from start to finish and our players were poor today. This is probably the livener we need after being second best to everything."
"We should have equalised before half time but other than Anton Robinson and Sam Cutler the other players were poor. We've got no leeway to change things around. That's the squad I've got and we've got to get on with it."
The Terras went down to a strike from George Purcell in the 23rd minute. A cross from the right by Danny Slatter left Cameron Mawer colliding with Scott Doe and Pucell pounced to rifle the ball into the net.
Stuart Beavon had two good chances to put Weymouth back in the game but he was denied by keeper Lance Cronin on both occasions.
Alongside Beavon, Chris McPhee tried hard to create more openings but the game was not to provide him with a happy return to the club for whom he had scored the winning goal in May's FA Trophy Final.
The single goal scoreline flattered Weymouth and had Stacy Long found more accuracy with a series of second half shots which narrowly missed the target, the win for Ebbsfleet may have been far more emphatic.
In the Southern League Division One South & West, Cinderford Town are in fifth place following a 2-0 defeat at Burnham United.
Ben Huddel scored after 17 and 73 minutes.
Bishop's Cleeve are 16th after a 1-0 home success over Gosport Borough.
Richard Mansell's 52nd minute spot-kick won it for Bishop's Cleeve.
