Saturday, October 10, 2009, 07:00

A St Werburgh's man has denied a charge of criminal damage for allegedly painting a 'Welcome to Stokes Croft' sign.

It is alleged Christopher Chalkley, 51, damaged the 5102 Apartments on the St James Barton roundabout to the value of between £150 and £200 in August.

Chalkley, of Mogg Street, denied the charge at Bristol Magistrates' Court yesterday. He was given bail and a trial date will be set later.
