Townsend stars in Chipping Sodbury win
He returned figures of 4-14 to restrict Coalpit Heath to 102-7 and then went on to score 50 not out in Chipping Sodbury's reply of 104-1 to give his side a convincing nine-wicket victory and a place in the fourth round of the South Glos Group.
There was an unbeaten 100 for Hanham's George Harris as his side amassed an impressive 190-4 against visitors Winterbourne C.
The away side were then skittled out for just 41, giving Hanham a comfortable 149-run victory in section F of the Under-15 League.
There was a tense finish in the Section C game between Stapleton and visitors Downend B.
The home side posted a score of 115-8 in their innings with C Sharp (39) and S Millard (30) making fine contributions with the bat.
But Downend ran out winners by just two runs with Harry Gowling contributing a fine 31.
Gowling's 59 not out was not enough to save Downend from going down by 91 runs against Winterbourne A.
The home side ran up a score of 188-5 with Sam Bracey (43no) Mike Norman (34) and Chris Kislingbury (30) among the runs.
Almondsbury completed a victory over visitors Patchway by 33 runs with Josh Slade making 47 and Tom Bradley returning figures of 3-12 from his four overs in the Section A game.
In Section D, Bristol West Indians overcame Bristol YMCA by 37 runs with the home team scoring 134-4 and the visitors managing just 97-3 from their 20 overs.
In a tight Under-13 MCC Spirit of Cricket National Cup game, Bristol YMCA squeaked past Stoke Bishop A by losing fewer wickets.
Stoke Bishop were all out for 107 with Tom Adams (4-14) and George Hird (3-13) doing most of the damage. Then Tristan Bacon (31) helped YMCA to a similar total for the loss of two wickets to progress through to the fourth round in the Bristol group.
Stoke Bishop B had more joy in their game against Brislington in the same competition.
Visitors Brislington scored 99-6 but Stoke Bishop eased through after scoring 100 without loss to win by 10 wickets.
In the South Glos group, Frenchay Blue overcame Downend in a tight match.
George Farmer (32no) and Matt Gowling (33no) were the mainstays of the Downend team but a consistent Frenchay batting line-up ran out winners by six wickets with Oliver Amos (30no), Jordan Ricketts (27) and Sam Pine (25) playing well.
Ben Pinkney was the toast of Nailsea after taking a hat-trick in their away tie against Bristol YMCA B in the Under-11 league.
He returned figures of 3-4 from just two overs to restrict the YMCA to 64-5 after Nailsea had amassed 120-1 from their 20 overs.
Tej Chadesingh (28no) top-scored and was ably assisted by Matt Edwards (25) and Chris Green (25), who helped Nailsea to victory by 56 runs.
There was a close encounter between Frenchay and Pak Bristolians in the Dave McCarthy Under-11 cup.
Frenchay's Jack Madge top-scored with 25no in his side's 98-2 while Hamza from Pak Bristolians scored the same in the visitors reply of 97-4, with Frenchay winning by just one run.
Jamie Studley returned impressive bowling figures of 4-19 in Winterbourne A's 73-run home victory over Bristol Phoenix in section B of the Under-11 league. Winterbourne A scored 112-3 while Phoenix were skittled out for 39.
Downend posted an impressive total of 157 without loss in their game against Pucklechurch.
Harry Hughes (25no), Mitchell Jefferies (25no) Ollie Peters (28no) and Callum Loud (28no) all made fine knocks.
Pucklechurch were always under pressure from such a big total but did well to make 53-5, with George Haynes taking 3-2 to give Downend victory by 104 runs.
The game between Bristol West Indians and Whitchurch in section C ended in a tie, with both sides making 114-7.
There was also a tied match in section B of the Under-13 league between Pucklechurch and Frenchay Red. Pucklechurch scored 109-8, while 43no from Tom Williams saw Frenchay Red match the home side's total.
The Frank Benner Under-13 Cup saw Bishopston A overcoming visitors Long Ashton B.
Robbie Parnham (41) led the home side to 105-6 but Hugo Burton (59no) and Joe Cook (26no) led the visitors to a 10-wicket victory.
Frenchay Red also booked their place in the third round with a seven-wicket victory over Thornbury Blue with Vir Lakhani plundering 38 runs for the Reds.
There were wins for Pucklechurch over Brislington and Almondsbury over Old Down while Twyford House overcame Old Bristolians.
In the South West Glass Under-17 second round cup tie, Bristol West Indies overcame Bishopston by 40 runs. The Windies posted an impressive 189-6 with Lewis Pierre top-scoring with 94 and Isaac Reid contributing 69.
Chasing such a good total was always going to be difficult but Bishopston made a good fist of it, with Joe Wenham making a fine 70.
But Windies bowler Jack Baber did all the damage and completed his four over spell for 5-15.
Also through to the third round are Pak Bristolians, who overcame Stoke Bishop by eight wickets.
George Williams was the hero as Hanham saw off the challenge of Pucklechurch in section C.
His knock of 53 helped Hanham to a total of 151-2 with Pucklechurch only able to post a reply of 103-7.
