Morgan's arrival works wonders for table-topping Stockwood Green

Somerset County League: Paul Beacham believes Brad Morgan's introduction to the Stockwood Green Robinsons' set-up has proved a catalyst for their upturn in fortunes.

Without a reserve-team boss and with a number of players threatening to quit, the Whitchurch-based outfit looked in disarray during pre-season. But Beacham's men have made a storming start to their Division I programme and go to Keynsham Reserves tomorrow sitting proudly on top of the table.

"I was wondering whether it was all worth it in pre-season before Brad took over the reserves," said Beacham. "He managed to keep our best players and attract good new ones and, as a result, everyone has got the bit between their teeth to succeed."

Fry Club could have former Odd Down and Welton attacking midfielder Lee Grubb in their squad for the trip to Clevedon United.

Centre-half Mike Taylor makes a timely return from suspension in the absence of Ray Passell as Cleeve West Town, now under the stewardship of Nick Faires and his assistants Dave Adams and Rich Hendricks, aim to extend their encouraging start with three points at Burnham United.

Nailsea Town's injury problems continue to mount, with midfielder Jake Turner the latest to be sidelined ahead of the trip to unbeaten Ilminster Town.

In the Premier Division, Mangotsfield Reserves boss Paul Britton insists the club's decision to use the team for blooding youngsters has been a success.

Britton, whose team visit Castle Carey tomorrow, said: "We've made a decent start and lads like Danny Spill, Matt Brown and Connor Britton have already made it into the first team."
