Your chance to tour places of worship in Bristol

Thursday, October 29, 2009, 07:00

Multi-faith tours of 17 places of worship in Bristol will take place on Sunday, November 15, as part of Inter-Faith Week.

The Bristol Multi Faith Forum and Bristol City Council have organised the Diverse Doors Open Day from 11am-4pm.

Communities include several Christian denominations, Jews, Hindus, different Muslims sects, and Sikhs.

Visitors will be offered a personal guided tour of places of worship and will be given the chance to learn more about these faiths.

Highlights include the chance to join the Sikh community at a traditional Langar meal at the Siri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, in Church Road, St George.

In visits to mosques and gurdwaras, it is advised that both men and women cover themselves from the neck to the ankles, and a head covering for women is conventional. Men will be provided with a skullcap to wear while inside a synagogue.
