Five-star show routs Redland
Bristol & District Sunday League: Hanham Sunday avoided the ignominy of a shock defeat to book their place in the Sid Rummins League Cup Final.
Nick McCoochie grabbed a brace as the high-flying Premier Division side dismantled Division I outfit AFC Redland in devastating fashion to record a 5-0 victory.
Will Court, Christian Miller and Leon Grange chipped in with the other goals to set up a date with Division I leaders Easton Cowboys in the final.
The Cowboys will start as underdogs, but showed they will be no pushovers with a convincing double-header victory over Wizard Wanderers to leapfrog Lebeq Tavern Reserves as the Division I title race looks set to go down to the wire.
Andrew Hamilton-Dunne scored four goals in the two games as Cowboys racked up a 9-0 aggregate score. That defeat saw the Wizards slump to the bottom of the pile after The Anchor secured an unlikely three points with a shock 5-4 victory over Fellowship.
Shaun Ryan and Gareth Thomas both scored twice for Anchor, with Peter Wright also on target
Elsewhere in Division I, Jack Payne claimed a hat-trick as White Tree overcame PJ Services 6-2. Paul Johnson, Mark Wright and Joe Power completed the scoring.
Premier Division Lebeq Tavern, meanwhile, reinforced their title credentials with a stunning 8-1 victory over bottom-of-the-table Golden Hill Sunday.
Dominic Holver plundered four goals to take his side within touching distance of the title, although second-placed Beaufort maintained their slim chances of catching the leaders with a 3-0 win over Shireway Sports thanks to goals from Mark Hughes (2) and Mark Power to remain two points behind.
Darren Coole took his goal tally for the season to an impressive 30 but it was not enough to prevent his side, Fishponds OB, from conceding top spot in Division II as they could only draw 3-3 with Merryweather OB.
Tony Palmer was Fishponds' other scorer, while Barry Inns (2) and Paul Jones netted for Merryweather.
Avon Plate went top of the table and opened a three-point gap on Fishponds by taking maximum points from a double-header with bottom-of -the-table Longreach Athletic Reserves. They won the first game 3-0 and the second match 3-1, with Tyler Gale on target in both fixtures.
BAWA moved a step closer to claiming the Division III title with a double-header demolition of Oracle to open up a nine-point gap over Elite Sats .
They won the first game 8-0 thanks to goals from Ben Moore (2), Brian Blackmore (2), Criag Timbrial, Nad Bamva, Joel Merrian and Dan Oakley, while a double strike by Jordan Harvey, plus further efforts from Moore and Timbrial, sealed a 4-1 victory in the second match.
Shaun White bagged a brace for Elite Sats as they continued to keep their slim hopes of landing the title alive with a 2-0 victory over Warwick.
Lee Spill and Andy Pullin scored for Cutters Friday as they beat The Squire in a mid-table battle. The other part of the double-header ended in a 2-2 draw, with Spill and Matt Oldcorn scoring for Cutters in reply to two goals from Andy Helling.
Portcullis thrashed Masonic Sports 8-1 and 3-1 in another double fixture, Josh Duncan leading the way with a hat-trick in the first game.
Bottom-of-the-table Adamland won for only the second time this season, John Miles netting all four goals in a 4-1 victory over West Country United. But United got their revenge in the second match of the double-header, winning 6-2 thanks to goals from James Shepherd (3), Dan Franklin (2) and Ashley Cole.
Division III club Mendip SBW took a break from league action to reach the final of the Charles Finch Cup.
They beat Division II outfit Signal Generals 2-0 with goals from Chris Attiwell and Luke Shepherd.
