Five-star Millard fires Oldland Abbotonians back to winning ways in derby
Charlie Millard fired five of the goals as Oldland Abbotonians Under-11s rattled up a 10-1 victory over local rivals Longwell Green.
Oldland had entered the derby on the back of their worst run of the season but, thankfully for them, they had not forgotten the winning habit as those five goals by star man Millard, and James Denyer's terrific four-timer, put Longwell in the driving seat.
Robert Bool, whose supply was excellent through the game, and Jack Haberfield, who may have just got a touch with his head to seal an emphatic win with the 10th goal, combined to ensure double figures for the hosts.
Whitchurch Sports A produced a fine performance to pip a decent St Nicholas team 1-0 in Division B.
It was tense all the way through and the first half was limited to a few half-chances, with strong defending from both teams.
Robbie Dixon's solitary second-half strike settled the contest. Finding himself clean through on goal, he coolly looped the ball over the keeper's head as he came out to the edge of his box.
Whitchurch defenders Ben Lea, Shae Chinnock, Jack Britton, Connor Perry and substitute George Potts worked hard to keep a deserved clean sheet.
Man-of-the-match Duval Pierre led the way for Bradley Stoke Youth with a brace as they beat Whitchurch A 6-2. Josh Morris also netted twice with Nick Evans and Connor Brealey completing the scoring.
Ashton A extended their winning run to 22 games with a 2-0 win over a spirited Ashton Boys B.
Ashton A dominated possession in the first half and took the lead through captain Frasier Devlin.
Some well-taken corners by man-of-the-match Jake Southern kept the pressure on, culminating in Adam Preece scrambling in their second before half-time.
A late goal sealed a 4-2 win for Stoke Lane after they had fended off a valiant Winterbourne United fightback in an absorbing Division A encounter.
Winterbourne took an early lead through Tom Curnock, but the game swung Stoke Lane's way when they scored three quick goals before half-time.
Winterbourne came out for the restart in determined mode and Ross Sharpe pulled a goal back direct from a corner.
Lane were unlucky when they put a penalty just wide of the post before they finally wrapped up the win late on with another excellent finish.
Warmley Rangers came away from Nicholas Wanderers 4-1 victors thanks to two goals by Callum Carter and strikes by Ross Lapham and Zane Oldfield.
