Goals galore throughout the Gloucestershire County League
The score at half-time was 3-3 with both sides making errors in defence.
Matt Casey gave Stanley the lead in the first minute, but Richard Carey equalised in the 13th minute.
Matt Spring then put Tavs ahead, only for Mike Beckingham to make it 2-2 soon afterwards.
Casey netted his second to give Stanley a 3-2 advantage, but Jay Redbond ensured it was all square at the break.
However, the second half belonged to Stanley.
Danny Chandler made it 4-3 with a 30-yard shot and Ben Newman netted the fifth.
A Chandler penalty made it 6-3 and substitute Jon Embling rounded off the scoring.
The other big winners of the day were Thornbury Town, who drubbed Berkeley Town 6-0.
Steve Alexander opened the scoring after five minutes before Steve Rice missed a penalty for the home side.
Thornbury's second goal came in the 50th minute from Pete Fowler and new signing Steve Thompson made it 3-0.
Rice made amends for his penalty miss to make it four and then Sam Lippiatt made it 5-0 in the 75th minute.
Thompson grabbed his second in the 80th minute to round off Thornbury's first win of the season.
Rockleaze Avonside came away with an excellent 2-4 victory at Axa.
The highlight of the day was a Troy Simpson hat-trick.
He opened the scoring in the 12th minute and Sam Gill netted the second with a 40-yard chip.
Steve Watts pulled a goal back for the home side after 50 minutes, but then Simspon netted his second in the 65th minute.
Brad Sanders brought the score back to 3-2 but Simpson had the last word.
Yate Town Reserves hit back to win 3-2 against Highridge United after trailing 2-0.
Micky Pratten and Adam Winston scored for United before Jack Smyth (2) and Jacob Cox turned things around.
Patchway Town gained their first point of the season with a 2-2 draw at Ellwood. Town were 2-0 with five minutes remaining but saved a point through a Tim O'Loughlin penalty and Adam Grinter.
Chipping Sodbury Town went down 3-1 to Henbury.
A double from Ashley Lock put Henbury ahead and a third from Molami Bokoto sealed the points. Paul Harris scored for Town.
Tuffley Rovers hit back to win 2-1 against Kingswood after Tom Higgins had given them the lead.
A Victor Webb penalty and a Mark Wallington strike proved vital for Tuffley.
Hanham Athletic held previous league leaders Bishops Cleeve Reserves to a 2-2 draw at Vicarage Road, James Shopland and Mickey Ayton netting for Hanham.
Finally, DRG Stapleton got back to winning form with a 4-1 victory at Brimscombe & Thrupp.
Martyn Nichols opened the scoring for DRG, Lee Pritchard levelled, but then the visitors won it thanks to Nichols and Aaron Taynton, who both completed doubles.
