Walsall are expected to recall 10-goal leading scorer Troy Deeney to their starting line-up tonight after he missed Saturday's 0-0 draw at the Banks's Stadium through suspension.

Saddlers boss Chris Hutchings may also have increased options at the back, with central defender Manny Smith hoping to be fit.

If he is, he may well partner central defender Clayton McDonald.

That would allow Jamie Vincent to return to his more customary role at left-back, with Netan Sansara dropping to the bench. Rovers fans won't have much trouble spotting McDonald, as he's 6ft 6ins tall.

He played a major part in ensuring the Saddlers avoided defeat on Saturday by clearing a shot from Jo Kuffour off the line – then almost delivered what would have been a late sickener for the Gas by thumping their crossbar with a header from a stoppage-time corner.

"It was frustrating because I got a good connection on the ball, but it didn't go in," he said.

The weekend stalemate was Walsall's eighth game without a win, but McDonald said: "That's three unbeaten now and at least we're not losing.

"We want to win, but it feels like we need a lucky break. We've got to be men, stick our chests out, put our shoulders back and go for it.

"We will have Troy back for tonight's game, which will give us a big boost. And Manny is close to a return.

"We haven't had the results we've deserved recently but maybe we just need a bit of luck."
