1932: Arsenal manager Herbert Chapman persuaded London Transport to change the name of the proposed new underground station close to Highbury from Gillespie Road to Arsenal.

1971: Her Royal Highness Princess Anne was voted Sportswoman of the Year by the British Sportswriters Association, following her win on Doublet in the European Three-Day Event at Burghley.
