Sporting Bristol stay eight points clear in Prmier Division
Sporting Bristol continued their unblemished start to the season and maintained an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier Division.
Mitch Tippen (2), Liam Power, Mitch Ashmead and Tom Dailey were all on target in a 5-1 win at Bristol Athletic – their sixth victory in six games.
Shah Bhakerd scored for Athletic, but it was not enough to do second-placed Lebeq a favour, even though they did their best to keep in touch with the early pacesetters by recording a 5-0 win over All Saints.
With third-placed Stapleton Sunday not in action, Andy Burnell (2) and Jamie Pilling helped Sportsmans move to within two points of the top three with a 3-0 success over struggling Redfield Rangers.
AXA Sunday still prop up the rest after goals from Alex May (2), Lee Smart and Chris King helped Downend cruise to a 4-0 victory.
Real Bristol still hold a six-point advantage at the top of Division I after a devastating 6-1 success over A1 Sports & Performance. An own goal started the rout and goals from Scott Bowler (2), Matthew Steel, Jordan Bath and James Herbert piled on the misery for A1, whose consolation came courtesy of a Nick Weeks own goal.
BAWA Athletico managed to hold on to second spot, Phil Boardman's strike clinching a 1-0 win over Breakaways.
Third-placed Longwell Green Sports managed to keep pace with the leaders after being gifted a dramatic last-gasp winner by The Castle.
Goals from Nick Barnett (2) and Gary Amos looked to have earned The Castle a points but an own goal by Adam Moore in the last minute saw them end the game empty handed.
Elsewhere, Sheldon Sawyers scored for Lebeq Reserves in a 1-1 draw with Fishponds Town,while a goal from 16-year-old substitute Dan Green was enough to see Quayside beat Lloyds United 1-0.
Three teams remain locked on the same number of points at the top of Division II.
Inter FC lead the way courtesy of a superior goal difference, which they enhanced with a 7-0 victory over Downend Reserves. Martin Withey scored a hat-trick before an own goal and strikes from George Doon (2) and Danny Evans completed the rout.
Second-placed Nicholas Wanderers beat Old Plough 4-3 thanks to Craig Madine (2), Justin Coombe and Nick Lewis.
Chris King scored five times as DKL Athletic claimed their first win of the season to move off the bottom of the table. James Williams and Dordan Hart were also on the mark as DKL ran out 7-2 winners over The Argonauts, who replied through Rob Davis, who cracked one in from 25 yards, and Mike Lally , with his first goal for the club.
LFB United slipped to the bottom of the pile after losing 2-0 to Shadwell Rovers.
Littlesea missed an opportunity to close the gap on Division III leaders CK FC. Second-placed Littlesea remain five points behind after goals from Ben Woodbridge (2) and Ashley Lloyd helped mid-table Stoke Lane Athletic pull off a surprise 3-1 success.
Kevin Taylor scored twice for The 3 Lions Vets as they shared the spoils with Bristol Athletic Social. Ryan Withey and Ricky Cox scored for Athletic in the 2-2 draw.
Hemplow Rangers remain bottom after losing a tight game against AFC Keynsham. Sheridan Lennard grabbed a goal for Hemplow but strikes from Mike Swanson and Justin Daniels were enough for Keynsham.
St Bernadettes missed the chance to go level on points with leaders Sporting Bristol Reserves in the only game of the weekend in Division IV. Dan Bush and Dick Wint scored in their clash with previously winless AFC Brecon, but goals from Richard Bacon, Tom Andrews and Isana Derci helped Brecon to a 3-2 success and their first three points of the season.
● Blackhorse Boys were in GFA Minor Cup action, where a Simon Gingell penalty helped ease them into the next round with a 2-1 victory over The Squire.
