Evening Post cricketer of the week winner
The off-spinner took his haul in his side's 131-run North Somerset Conference Division III victory over GWR Shunters.
Higgs has a track record for success at GWR's Stoke Lodge ground, having claimed two hat-tricks on the same pitch.
On Saturday, he took two wickets in successive balls in the final overs but just missed out on another hat-trick and the chance of finishing with eight wickets.
After Dyrham & Hinton had batted first and made 218-4, Rob Watkins top-scoring with 115, Higgs decided to get himself into the attack early on.
"The rain was coming in and I decided to put myself on to make sure we got 20 overs in to quantify a result," he said.
"It is my first season as captain and I have probably under-bowled myself. I have bowled better this season but not got the luck or had the catches taken."
Higgs' heroics with the ball saw GWR slump to 87 all out, but he is not expecting a call-up to the first XI, who play in Division I.
"They have got better bowlers than me," he said modestly.
