Bristol City's Murray wants to extend Cheltenham spell

Monday, October 06, 2008, 08:00

SCOTT MURRAY is hoping to extend his stay at Cheltenham Town after playing a central role in Saturday's amazing 3-3 draw at Brighton.

The on-loan Bristol City winger took his career goals tally to 98 with two goals at the Withdean but was on the treatment table when Andy Gallinagh's 94th-minute goal earned a draw.

Murray's two goals hauled Cheltenham back twice from strikes from his Brighton namesake Glenn – who completed a hat-trick before Gallinagh's goal.

"It's a joy to be playing here," said Murray, whose signing was announced 10 minutes into Allen's first press conference as Robins boss, but whose loan spell ends after next weekend's home game with Colchester United.

"Everyone wants the ball and we want to get it down and play some nice stuff.

"The gaffer wants me here for another three months and I've told him I'm up for it – now it's up to Bristol City.

"I'd rather be here playing than sat in the stands at Ashton Gate, but if Saturday is my last game then I have really enjoyed myself."

Murray's spell started with a 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers and also included a missed penalty against Stockport last weekend – which has now been forgotten after Saturday's double strike.

"It makes up for the penalty miss," he said. "I've never missed one before last week and I've taken a bit of stick for it.

"Apparently it was on Soccer AM but I didn't see it. A lot of people are blaming my hair for why I headed against the bar."
