A ghostly figure swirls over the scene in this remarkable photograph taken at the White Spring at Glastonbury. It was sent to me by Mikesey, of Glastonbury, who said: "It shows two people hugging with an unusual-looking object apparently looking down on them. It seems to have a long neck and a face."

When taking the picture last week, Mikesey noticed a "mist patch", but the image showed itself properly only when he looked at the preview on the camera.

"The image was shown to the people in it almost immediately while still on the memory card of the camera," he added. "There is no hoax here. The picture has not been edited in any way and is just as it came from the Canon camera."

The spring, in Well House Lane, flows through a Victorian reservoir built into the side of the Tor which is being restored as a water temple by the Companions of the White Spring, a project they hope to complete by 2012.

“I took this picture, and most certainly was never told not to publish it. In fact it was shown immediately to the people in the image, who verified that it was not smoke that caused it, one of them, was /is the "custodian" for that day., and referred to it as "ectoplasm". One should look to the next image after the one in question to see that it is not smoke from any candle.
I have taken hundreds of images at the W. Spring over the years, and very recently spoke to Lisa herself, who was friendly and I took three pictures of her at that time: again, she was only too willing to get "snapped", and knew who I was too.”

“This is clearly candle smoke, there is a place on the wall right by the spot the picture was taken from where candles are placed. This is nothing more than a trail from a candle that has gone out - interesting picture though.

We do request that pictures are not taken of the inside of the temple space for public use, Mikesey was told this at the time and chose to ignore it and take it to the newspapers instead- If anyone wishes to take images there, please ask the custodian for permission if you are going to publish them.”
