Thornbury complete a remarkable fightback

Thornbury scored 21 points in the final 10 minutes, including a converted try deep into injury time, to snatch a thrilling 40-38 home win over Stroud in Western Counties North.

Centre Tim Stephens was the hero, adding the extras to flanker Jack Hussey's second try, to complete a remarkable fightback for Thornbury.

The home side trailed 16-12 at the turnaround and soon found themselves 38-19 down after a disastrous opening 10 minutes of the second half. But Mike Sander's side never gave up, and dug in for a memorable win.

There were also tries for Tom Guzman, Alex Kane, Ollie Fleming and Dan Hussey with Stephens landing five crucial conversions.

Keynsham were pushed all the way by North Bristol before a late Paul Edson penalty secured a 26-23 victory.

The fly-half landed a total of four penalties and also converted first-half tries by winger Chris Eames and No 8 Jack Weston to break North's hearts after a brave effort.

Southmead were made to pay for defensive lapses as they went down 23-17 at home to Old Centralians.

Lock Jack Williams and No 8 Gary Sposito grabbed tries, with Danny Cottrell adding both conversions and a penalty.

But Centralians edged it with a breakaway converted try with 10 minutes to go.

Barton Hill remain clear at the top on the back of a 44-22 win over Hornets. Joe Samson crossed twice with Nick Yiasoumi, Sam Steer, Luke Bickford and back row Steve Ireland also on the scoresheet. Fly-half Jack steer added three conversions and two penalties.

Old Redcliffians are second on points difference from Stroud after a 51-12 success at Widden.
