Brislington Reserves hit four and close in on pole position

Brislington Reserves closed the gap on Somerset County Premier Division leaders Cheddar to one point, with a game in hand, as they beat struggling bottom-of-the-table Taunton Blackbrook 4-2 at Ironmould Lane.

Kevin Rawlings, Matt Arnold and Clark Taylor were among the scorers for Brislington.

Cheddar crashed to a shock 4-2 home defeat against Bishops Lydeard.

Cutters Friday were 6-3 winners over visiting Paulton Rovers Reserves. Harley Purnell gave Cutters an 18th-minute lead, with Scott Saunders making it 2-0 after 29 minutes.

Paulton pulled a goal back after 35 minutes, only for Bending to make it 3-1 after 40 before Paulton added a second. Bending headed in a Purnell cross five minutes into the second half to make it 4-2, with defender Roy Albert getting the fifth, only for Paulton to pull back to 5-3. Bending completed the scoring 10 minutes later.

Shirehampton made it four successive victories with a 4-2 success at St George Easton in Gordano.

Ryan McCall gave Shirehampton a fifth-minute lead but then McCall and a St George player were red-carded after an incident. Martin Cook gave Shirehampton a 2-1 lead just before half-time with Paul Armstrong adding a third, midway through the second half, and Griffiths made it 4-1 before St George scored their second goal.

In Division One, Fry Club were 2-0 home winners in their local derby against Saltford.

Leaders Stockwood Green maintained their two-point lead at the top of the table, over Odd Down reserves, in a 2-0 victory over Clevedon United reserves.
