Somerset come first, says Trescothick after century
The opener became the top run-scorer in the LV County Championship as he stroked a superb 146 against Yorkshire at Taunton.
But he said he would sacrifice that honour if it meant a maiden Championship title for his side.
Such a club distinction looked a long way off as Somerset CCC were reduced to 326-9 in reply to the visitors' 438 at the halfway stage of the match.
Trescothick said: "I would sacrifice anything for a bit of silverware.
"It is always nice to pick up little things like that but it is the seventh game and there are nine to go, so a lot of work to do yet.
"I would like to be up there, although it is not something I research too often. People tell you that and if you are up there you know you are doing pretty well.
"I enjoyed the innings and I have played pretty well recently. I have been concentrating well and I wanted to get a big score and this was the one that came through."
Somerset's next top scorer was James Hildreth with 51.
"Hildy was belting it and he just missed a straight one," said Trescothick. "Because of the way he played they won't know what to set us, because it only needs someone like him to get 100 in 100 balls and it throws it wide open.
"We are pretty disappointed to be nine down now on this pitch. If we could have got 600 that would have been nice. But who knows what can happen from here? They have bowled us out and there is no reason why we can't do the same to them. It makes the game more open.
"If you bowl well and you get a bit of luck you can get results here. It will probably come down to a chase in the last innings."
Meanwhile, Somerset youngster Jos Buttler broke his thumb playing in his final match for King's School, Taunton, and is out for up to three weeks.
