Friday, August 14, 2009, 13:38

1st Division

Tbolts 7 Guppy Spotters 15

Tbolts were a player short for their encounter with the joint division leaders Guppy Spotters but put on a brave display to eventually go down by 8 runs to 15.

Grandslammers 13 Bristol Creamers 30

After conceding 6 runs in the first innings Creamers tightened up their fielding to only concede a further 7 runs in the rest of the match and this combined with some strong batting saw them to a much-needed win over the Grandslammers.

The Forks 24 Real Flyers 3

Forks put on a strong display of fielding and batting against an understrength Real Flyers in this battle for the 3rd and 4th positions in the league. Neither teams found their bats in the 1st and 2nd innings but then Forks dug deep and scored a confidence-boosting five runs in the 3rd and went on to consistently bat well for the rest of the game. Real Flyers, who have regularly batted most teams off the field this season, were unable to respond. If Forks maintain this excellent performance next week then it should make for an exciting game against the joint top of the table Guppies. MVP's: David Lee (Forks); Saghi Zarbafi (Forks).

LSDs 15 Buccs Whiz 8

Joint division leaders LSDs continued their winning streak with a comfortable win over relegation battlers Buccs Whiz.

2nd Division

Imperial Sliders 13 Chipmonks 7

Sliders, who are guaranteed to take the second division title this year, completed another routine victory with a win over the Chipmonks.

The Force 6 Sloggers 23

Sloggers produced a strong batting and fielding performance in this game that did not allow The Force any chance of a win.

Orange Crushers 18 Flintstones 6

Orange returned to winning ways after their defeat last week. Tight fielding meant that Flintstones did not score a run until the fourth innings by which stage Orange, with some solid batting, were all ready 16 runs ahead and in charge of the game. Flintstones’ fielding improved by the end of the game and Orange took their foot off the accelerator and did not score in the fifth and sixth innings but with the damage done in the early part of the game Orange were always comfortably ahead.

Desperadoes 26 Friendly Fire 7

Solid batting throughout the game with a round the order bat in the 4th innings allowed second placed Desperadoes to cruise to a win over Friendly Fire who struggled to find the gaps in the Desperadoes defense.

Sloggers 18 Chipmonks 30

This was a re-arranged fixture from a rained off game back in July. The fixture was finally played on August 10 and a solid batting start by Chipmonks in the first innings set them up for the victory over Sloggers.

3rd Division

Greasy Mitts 16 Spartans 17

Greasy Mitts pushed the division leaders all the way in this one and on the final at bat Spartans needed a big innings to make the Mitts bat again. They dug deep and got back in front and went out to field in the final innings with a three run lead to defend. Greasy Mitts pulled two of these back before Spartans got the outs they needed to claim the one run victory.

Multiple Scorgasms 15 Thunderbats 10

Second placed Scorgams completed a victory over newcomers Thunderbats to keep the pressure on the division leaders.

Go Balls Deep 7 Flatpackers 31

Go Balls Deep started well in the first innings and had the lead before the Flatpackers got into their stride and produced a tight defensive game and strong batting to take control of the match.
