Bristol Creamers 4 LSDs 20
LSDs completed a solid victory over the Creamers which leaves them one win away from becoming the Division One champions and all to play for in their clash with Guppy Spotters next week.
LSDs' usual solid fielding featured again and they held Creamers scoreless in five innings and then did the damage with the bat in the third and fifth innings when they scored five runs in both innings.
Guppy Spotters 20 The Forks 9
Some big hitting by Guppy Spotters set them up for their must win game with the LSDs which is scheduled to take place next week. Guppys scored well throughout the game and then restricted The Forks to singles or doubles when in the field.
Buccs Whiz 23 Grandslammers 28
This was a must win game for Buccs Whiz if they were to have any chance of avoiding relegation but in a high scoring game that seesawed one way then the other Grandslammers dealt Buccs Whiz the killer blow in the 5th innings when Grandslammers scored eight runs then held Buccs Whiz scoreless.
Real Flyers 15 Tbolts 16
Bottom of the table Tbolts got a well-needed win over the mid-top table Real Flyers.
Tbolts got off to a good start getting four in the first innings and held the Real Flyers for the first couple of innings, until a run of good hits with bases loaded saw Real Flyers take the lead by one run.
Tbolts held their cool and batted themselves out of trouble and showed a display of tight fielding to win the match.
2nd Division
Sloggers 10 Desperados 12
In a close-run game second placed Desperados finished off a good season by completing a 12 to 10 victory over a Sloggers side which has shown signs of good form this year but lacked consistency.
Chipmonks 14 Orange Crushers 17
This was the battle for third place and a determined Orange side held their nerve to come out on top.
Orange looked like they had the game in control with good up to bats in the third and fourth innings and they stopped Chipmonks from scoring in the fourth innings. Chipmonks came back at Orange in the sixth innings when they held Orange to zero and scored five runs.
Orange tried desperately to extend their lead in their final innings bat but Chipmonks restricted then to one run.
Chipmonks came up to bat requiring five runs to win and on several occasions had bases loaded but Orange managed to get two outs while conceding only one run.
The last play of the game involved Steve Roberts, who had a storming batting game, coming up to the plate with the bases loaded and Steve being the potential winning run.
Steve launched a big hit into the centre right outfield which saw the Orange fielder Phil Price desperately backpedalling to get to the ball which he managed to hold onto in the very top of his glove.
Friendly Fire 15 The Force 11
A good victory for Friendly Fire. Both these teams have performed well in the second division but have lacked the consistency and fire power to compete with the stronger sides.
Flintstones 7 Imperial Sliders 33
Despite all ready having the second division title sown up Sliders did not take their foot off the gas and completed a very successful season in style by batting and fielding solidly in this victory over The Flintstones.
3rd Division
Multiple Scorgasms 12 Spartans 11
This was always going to be an exciting game as the top two teams in the 3rd Division met for the final time.
Each team batted and fielded well with only a few runs scored per innings. Spartans second baseman took a nasty finger injury and Clint from the Scorgasms suffered back pain after sliding in at home.
The pressure increased when scores were tied at the bottom of the seventh innings at ten all. Into the eighth innings- Spartans batted first and got one runner home which left Scorgs needing two runs to win.
With two down Zuby took the plate. Nerves of steel she got Tom home for the winning run. An incredible game from two fantastic teams.
Greasy Mitts 20 Go Balls Deep 4
Greasy Mitts completed their season with a solid victory over fellow newcomers to softball.
Thunderbats 12 Flatpackers 20
Flatpackers finished what has probably been their most successful season with a good win over softball newcomers Thunderbats.
